Working closely with a valued client, our team successfully developed and prototyped cylindrical cells, with a tailored, high-performance chemistry designed for demanding applications.

Precision Prototyping in Our Inhouse Battery Laboratory

The project began in our dedicated battery laboratory, leveraging a robust Design of Experiment (DoE) approach. Our experts meticulously planned and executed a series of experiments to optimise cell chemistry, experimenting with various combinations of cathode, anode, electrolyte, and non-active additives. Multiple iterations were created to ensure the most promising configurations could be rigorously evaluated.

From Laboratory to Cell Prototype

Once the optimal chemistry was identified, we advanced to the dry cell manufacturing stage. Supported by our local team in Asia, we produced dry cylindrical cell prototypes, utilising the enhanced chemical compositions established during our laboratory trials in Berlin. The cells were then completed at our Berlin facility, where electrolyte filling and cell formation processes were carried out.

Cell Quality Assurance and Cell Performance Testing

Battery cell quality and cell consistency were at the heart of our process. Each cell prototype underwent thorough inspection before being subjected to a comprehensive suite of cell performance tests in Berlin. Criteria such as cycle life, stability, and capacity output under varying conditions were assessed to ensure the prototypes met the highest standards for the high-performance target of our customer.

Collaborative Project Management and Transparent Communication

Throughout the project, we maintained open and regular communication with our client, providing weekly updates on progress and results. This collaborative approach not only fostered trust but also ensured the final prototypes aligned precisely with their requirements and expectations.
